This was my first true "mod". I was aiming to blur the line between the old 50' street rods and the computer. I have always been a huge fan of harloquin style flame jobs, and this case was a tribute to those wonderful hot rod accents! This mod also incorporates a custom LED controller that I built to make the flames flicker. Thihs was controlled by the hard drive activity state. Wen at rest, a certain random number of the LED's would stay lit. When the disk was active, a different set of LED's would light up, and the others would shut off. This play between the 2 light channels made the flames flicker while the machine was in use. I alsso had 4 LED's attached to the heatsink, 2 lights on each channel, so that the heatsink would also generate light activity during use. Several solid, non-changing, accent LED's were added in to highlight parts of the motherboard. The power cables inside were custom built and plugged into an ULTRA X-Connect power supply. The power cables were made out of UV reactive blue and green cabling, and used UV reactive clear green acrylic as cable spacers, then finished up with 90 degree black molexes to keep the cable arcing to a minimum. I wanted the power cables to be more of a single waterfall, and it turned out spectacularly well.
